In a highly dubious political stunt designed to serve the dual purpose of boosting a foreign politician’s upcoming domestic election prospects and, for the Republicans, damaging President Obama, Binyimin Netenyahu was invited by Republican leaders to make a speech in Congress attacking the Iran policies of the President of the United States. One senator said afterwards .. "This speech was straight out of the Dick Cheney playbook. It was fearmongering at its ultimate." .. (story here).

Being asked to trust the Bush brand again brings to mind the wise words of Jeb’s brother, good ‘ol ‘Dubbya’ himself .. “There’s an old saying in Tennessee — I know it’s in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can’t get fooled again.”   Quite. 

Jeb Bush, in seeking to distance himself from George W’s toxic legacy, has been telling every journalist who would listen ‘I-am-my-own-man’. However Jeb has also hired as his advisers the same foreign policy team that under ‘Dubbya’ led (or lied) the USA into the cripplingly expensive, morally bankrupt, and totally unnecessary debacle of the Iraq ‘war’ .. hardly reassuring .. Hot on the heels of the media storm of righteous indignation over NBC’s Brian Williams 'misremembering' his military adventures come allegations that one of Fox’s chief bloviators and propaganda-peddlers, Bill O’Reilly, has also been lying about his war experiences .. (story here)

The latest maneuver in the NRA’s relentless campaign to turn the USA into a free-fire zone is to promote guns as a safeguard against campus sexual assault. A lesbian Couple were able to get married in Texas recently after a county court judge ruled that the state’s ban on gay marriage was unconstitutional. The Governor of Texas and the state’s Attorney General both immediately rushed to stamp out such subversive equality nonsense by reaffirming the illegality of same-sex marriage in the Lone Star State and the ghost of King Canute could be heard muttering approvingly to them  .. ‘Way to go, doods’ .. Israel’s Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, facing a difficult election soon, has been handed a massive pre-election publicity boost by pro-Israel Republicans inviting him to address the US Congress. It is thought he will use the privilege to publicly attack the US President over his Iran Policy .. (story here)

After a county court judge in Texas ruled the state’s ban on same-sex marriage was unconstitutional in the case of a middle-aged lesbian couple who had lived together for over 30 years they took the chance to get married before one of them died of cancer. This so outraged the Republican Governor of Texas and the state’s Republican Attorney General that both rushed to publicly reassert the illegality of same-sex marriage in Texas and their resistance to it. It’s not clear whether they will now go after the couple to have their marriage license revoked .. (story here)
